Paris
Day 2
Very tired but, restless so last night we took 2 sleeping pills, which we never take, and did we ever sleep. In fact overslept until 11:30 – OMG. We lost a half a day. After breakfast, which was cold because we were supposed to pick up the basket outside our door at 8:30, we went to the Gare du Lyon to buy our tickets to go to Normandy. The ticket machines all in French so after trial and error we finally had tickets in hand. We caught bus 87 (must be a omen) and went the wrong way.
So we took a long ride but got to see a lot of Paris (beautiful city) but wasted another 30 minutes. So far day has been on the down side but, finally we were at the base of the Eiffel Tower. This made our day at 4:00pm. We knew it was going to be big but, seeing it in person you are awe struck. Lines were short so we went part way up and the view, oh the view, Paris is such a great city. Bus 87 back home and to A la Biche au Bois for dinner. We were lucky as people after us were turned away. Its' specialty is coq au vin and that is what we ordered – off the charts. We make a great coq au vin with Julia's recipe but this had greater intensity in the sauce. Our fortunes are changing. The cheese tray after the meal – the pictures tell the story.
