On Monday morning we finished packing and walked the wall. We had a meeting with Debora, the lady that runs the rental business. We thanked her for a wonderful stay and set up our reservations for next year. We ate lunch and walked to bus station. Took the bus to Florence Airport and a taxi to our hotel.
On Tuesday a taxi to the airport then the flight to Paris. Three hour layover so we had a little lunch and then the flight to Pittsburgh. Smooth and right on time. Jno picked us up and we were home by 8:00pm. Thanks Jno! Geno was very happy to see us and the new cat, LordStanley didn't care.
Thank you for following us on another successful trip to Italy - our 7th. It is really nice to receive emails from you.
Some observations about this trip...
1. Only met 2 groups of Americans in Lucca (you hear Italians, Brits, and Germans mostly).
2. Weather was very hot - used our air conditioning everyday (never used it in the past).
3. Trains and busess on time. Other Italians event- at least 10-15 minutes late.
4. Food remains at a very high quality. Seeing more truffles and baccala.
5. We always ordered the house wine - inexpensive and very good.
6. We took our first cooking class in Italy and will be taking more - GREAT!
7. Military had more of a presence at the airports (sign of the times).
8. Looking forward to meeting Sandy in Lucca next year
