2024

Our friend Deb Winings arrived promptly at nine and drove us to the airport. We had our traditional Bloody Marys, this time at Fridays, as Bar Symon has closed. The flight was on time and it was a smooth ride to Detroit. We had a 6 hour layover but it was made easier because we got into  the Delta Sky Club. Soft chairs, “free” food and drinks.

The flight to Paris was on time and smooth. Going through the Border Patrol was  45 minutes standing in line. November 1st is a holiday in France. (All Saints Day). We used a taxi to go to Gare du North and had to wait 3 hours for our train. The train trip was on time to the minute and fast – one hour and 15 minutes. Tony met us at the train station in Brussels.

We were greeted at their apartment by Janni and the dogs – now that is a great Belgian greeting.

We were tired but spent the rest of the day and evening catching up. Wine and food were outstanding. Wine, cheese and bread in afternoon with filet, fish, roasted squash, more wine,  and dessert later.
