Quindici settembre martedì ( September 15 Tuesday)

Bel tempo a Lucca (Beautiful weather in Lucca). We decided to go to Monticatini Alto today so we went to the train station bought tickets and after a 30 minute ride we were at Monticatini Terme. We walked to the funicular (click here for more information on funicular) which was little over a mile. About a 15 minutes ride and did not get pictures going up but, a lot coming down. Beautiful view from the top. People live here but, can't imagine getting around or finding a plumber. There is a road going up but, apparently from some reviews - very scary.

Decided on Gala which had great reviews on tripadvisor. Per antipasto abbiamo preso la stessa cosa parmigiana di melanzane carasau ( For appetizer we had the same thing -parmigiana- eggplant, tomato, mozzarella & carasau bread). I am so glad we both chose the same antipasto because it was so different but so good. Secondo, Dow ha preso pici artigiatiall carbonara di guaticiale, bottarga, d'uovo (Carbonara handmade pici). Ho preso pappardelle ruvide, sugo d'anatra nostrale in pezzi (fresh pappardelle with slow braised duck). The pasta was house made or hand made and cooked to perfection. The sauces, oh the sauces, just out of this world.

I rode on the otuside  of the funicular going down and took some pictures. Return was made easier when Dow spotted a train going to Lucca before we thought. The train was 3 minutes late which allowed us to board.
