Diciassette settembre Giovedì ( September 17 Thursday)

Bel tempo a Lucca (Beautiful weather in Lucca).  Abbiamo camminato le mura (We walked the wall). Per il pranzo siamo andati al ristorante Canuleia (For lunch we went to the restaurant Canuleia). It has a lovely shady garden through the back of the restaurant.However, I forgot to take a picture of the menu - so here's the short version. Dow had a shrimp salad then spaghetti with a fish sauce. I had stufed tomatoes and a second course of tortelli in meat sauce. Just a great lunch. Dow chatted with a couple next to us from England.

In the evening we attended the concert - Puccini e Verdi. It was a packed house (church) and a standing "O" at the end. No microphones just wonderful voices filling the air. Sometimes you close your eyes and think - "here I am in Lucca, Italy listening to wonderful voices singing opera - life does not get much better than that".

Gelato and off to bed.
