Italy 2017

Ciao,

Dovè il sole? (Where is the sun?) Il sole è qui e brillante( The sun is here and brilliant). Starting to become normal in Lucca so we walked the wall enjoying the sights and the strolling people.

For lunch we went to a restaurant we have not been to Osteria da Rosolo and ate outside. For the first course Dow had the seafood salad and I had the octopus salad. What a way to start off the meal- flavorful and tasty. The fish was cooked perfectly but I always expect that in Italy. For the second course Dow had green ravioli with asparagus and sage stuffing and I had the wild boar with polenta. Absolutely off the charts. WOW! Ritorneremo qui. (We will return here.) It is always fun to make a great find.

A little explanation about wild boar. It does not have a gamey taste and is usually prepared in a stew.  If you think the taste of wild boar is similar to pork, guess again. Although the wild boar is related to the domestic pig, they do not taste the same. Wild boar tastes like a cross between pork and beef, with a unique juicy succulence. The meat is a bit darker, perhaps due to the healthy iron content. Boar is hunted in the wild in Italy and is always found on menus in this area.

As for the weather the afternoon changed. Some showers.  We went to the supermarket after the rain. The next 5 days are supposed to be very good.
