La campagna è bellissima. Stiamo in paradiso. La nostra camera è bellissima. Tutto è bellissimo. (This countryside is beautiful. We are in heaven. Our rooms are beautiful. Everything is great.)
Again our basket arrived at the door at 8:00am. More goodies for breakfast. We are not used to having breakfast in Italy but, adjusted quickly.
On the road at 9:00 and the first stop is Cantellina in Chianti. Pretty little town with a tunnel that was used to protect the town. Now shops and restaurants occupy it.
The road to Greve had many sharp curves, very narrow in spots and up and down. Albano, our driver, had no problems. Greve is a bigger town and was setting up in the main piazza for a Chianti wine festival. We will miss it but, I'm sure there will be a lot of happy people attending. A great chance to compare many Chianti wines. The black rooster and DOC are on some Chianti wine indicating high quality. The story goes that the Medici had rival towns Florence and Siena compete for power. There was to be a race, which could only start when the rooster crowed. Florence had the white rooster. Siena kept their black rooster in a small cage and hungry and so it crowed first, hence the winner.
We visited the winery, Verrazzano. On top of a hillside with a great view and the winery was very old and the tour and lunch that followed was very impressive.
Quick stop on the way home to a tiny town, Montefioralle.
Quick swim and quiet evening. Internet is spotty at best.
Mi manca il golf, particolarmente la pratica. (I miss golf particularly the practice)
