Paris

Day 5

Did you guess which person in the TV photo is the mayor of Paris? The answer is below in the pictures.

Breakfast was waiting at our door. There is a different fruit or flower everyday. We headed to the river Seine to see Notre Dame. I have another page with photos of the aftermath of the fire. It was about a 20-minute walk. The sidewalks here and on the Left Bank across the Seine were packed with people shuffling along, stopping to take photos or pose for selfies, viewing the beautiful cathedral without its spire.

Police stopped the crowds from getting very close.  We could see firefighters using a tapering crane to inspect the facade by the light of day. Over it all we constantly heard he shrill whistles of traffic police. News trucks and reporters from all over the world lined the streets and bridges.

In the afternoon we walked to Rue Saint Antoine for more pâté. We had happy hour at our B&B.  For dinner we found a bistro that was tucked away on a side street only a 10-minute walk from our apartment. These are the places that are hidden gems that we are always looking for. L'Encrier is a small bistro with excellent food. Dow had escargot for the first course and then duck. I had pâté and then lamb sweetbreads. OMG – everything was off the charts. Anytime I spot sweetbreads on the menu it is my choice. The 27 price also included desserts.  When in Paris…
