I must apologize for yesterday's note as I sent out the email but, forgot to attach the Paris group. I woke up at 2:00 am and realized what I did. Then re-sent it with the Paris group. That was why it was late.
Another cooking area of expertise for Tony is breakfast. Omelets, eggs over easy, or whatever you want - he performs at a high level. I had my espresso and croissant which jump starts me for working on the web page.
We drove about an hour to a lovely town to have lunch. (It was raining but, we pressed on.) It is the same place where Anthony Bourdain had his last meal, Le Chambard. The sister restaurant, attached, has 2 Michelin stars. Dow and Janni had trout, Tony had beef and I had veal kidneys. Also had appetizers and wine of course – a great lunch.
After lunch we drove to the town of Kaysersburg and walked around. Towns outside Strasbourg have a mix of Germanic and French influence. As part of Imperial Germany, after the 30 Years War Strasbourg was rebuilt and developed on a grand and representative scale. Then after WWI the French reclaimed the Strasbourg and Alsace-Lorraine region. The Germans reclaimed it in WW II and after WWII it went back to the French where it remains today.
Tony made 3 “pizzas” for dinner with the thin crust (Flammekueche, or tarte flambée) with his personal toppings. Accompanied by that wonderful white asparagus. The wines flowed freely and great time was had by all. Before we knew it, it was after midnight. WOW time flies when you are having fun and engaged. Janni did not have to work on Saturday but, unfortunately had to go into on Sunday for a couple of hours in the morning.
