Tony made breakfast for us, then Janni had to go in to work for a couple of hours. Worked on the web site and then Tony drove us to a public park in Strasbourg. The stroll through the park was beautiful with may activities there for residents and visitors. Artie played and used the dog area to do his thing. Janni had taken Wilma to work with her.
We met Janni and took some pictures at the Council of Europe where she works. She represents Norway as a diplomat. The Council of Europe was set up on 5 May 1949 by 10 countries and has expanded over time. Now forty six countries are members, though Russia was kicked out March 16 th. Now there are forty five.
The Council of Europe was set up after WWII to uphold:
1. Democracy
2. Human Rights
3. Rule of Law
Now the Council of Europe is very busy because of the Ukraine invasion.
Cancelled reservations at a restaurant as it was late and had lunch at the apartment with Tony being the chef; his mastery of all types of cooking is amazing. We had salmon with sorrel sauce, leftover “pizza” from last night, and pasta with porcini in a cream sauce. Who needs to go out when you have Tony preparing the meals? We ate on the patio as the weather is clearing.
In the evening we walked into town to have a drink at Tony's favorite bar. Small but very interesting. Another opportunity to view the French and German influence.
