After our wonderful breakfast we met with the owner to have him order a taxi for the airport on Monday morning. He also helped us with reservations and parks to visit for a picnic. We decided to head to the Bastille area where they may be some pharmacies open this Sunday (only a few pharmacies are open on Sunday). One pharmacy had a list of those in the front window. So we took a picture of it. Then we checked the locations and three were in the Bastille area. After only two tries we found one open on Sunday that also gives the COVID rapid test that day. So this Monday we are set for a taxi to Charles De Gaulle and we will have place to take our test. Now let's hope it is negative.
Decided to go see the Eiffel Tower. We took the metro to that stop but, just before we all had to leave the metro because of construction – we all know what that is about. Finally got a bus to our original stop - you can imagine how many people were on the bus. Squeezed in like sardines. Eventually we got to the Eiffel Tower (after long walk up the Champs-Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe because we wanted to get off that crowded bus). Then had to navigate back. A lady helped us at the bus stop by checking her phone then giving us directions. We finally made it back. Metro line construction ended today!
Went out tonight to a restaurant that we have not tried before - Le Square Trousseau. About 10 minutes from our place and an easy walk. We did not see any tourists – our kind of restaurant. The best food is where the locals eat. We had a terrine of pate to share. Dow had frog legs and I had shrimp in an wonderful sauce. Both dishes were outstanding. We shared pommes frites (french fries).
Yesterday 13,000+ steps and today 14,000+.
Good day as we know where to get our COVID test, ordered a taxi to the airport and visited the Eiffel Tower.
All things we did lately involved a phone – navigation around the city, pictures of our journey, train and bus schedules, looking up restaurant reviews, calendar, schedule of pharmacies open on Sunday, music, weather, downloading airline tickets, communication via text from airlines, calling and texting which is free with Whatsapp app - local or international. Everyone has a phone and uses it. Steve Jobs changed the world.
The answer to who said “they're slippery suckers” was Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.
