Ciao dall'Italia

La colazione è arrivata in quel fantastico cestino. (Breakfast came in that great basket.)

After finishing the web site we met our driver and off to San Gimignano. The view on the road to town did not disappoint – Beautiful. The town is located on top of a hill. Unlike Lucca you cannot walk on the walls. We met our guide - she was wonderful and full of information. So much that we could not remember all of it but, we really liked her. Ci sono le torri in San Gimignano come puoi vedere dalle immagini qui sotto. (There are towers in San Gimignano as you can see by the pictures below.)

The town is not big but lovely and so is a tourist attraction. There was a wedding at the town hall. The bride and groom make a grand entrance in a big car but, see what they left the wedding in – a big surprise.  Fun to watch!

Siamo andati a Firenze per la cena (We went to Florence for diner). On the way our driver, Giovanni, took us to the overlook in Florence. Pictures below. He knows Florence well and “easily” found our destination.

We ate atTrattoria Buzzino. The owner, Alessandro, is a friend of Aimee and Dave Anioa who own Dianoia's in Pittsburgh. If you have not been there put this on your lists to do. Better yet visit both places. Dave and Amiee have visited Alessandro in Florence and they share cooking secrets. Alessandro could not have been a better host. We had Polpo for antipasto and pasta carbonara for the second course. Then we had Steak Florentine which is famous in this area. Per dolce we shared Tiramisu. All dishes were out of bounds.

Note – he bought every lady in the restaurant a rose – perfect touch to a fantastic evening.
