Buongiorno da Lucca
la colazione è arrivata in quel fantastico cestino per l’ultima volta . (Breakfast came in that great basket for the final time.) We will miss this special occasion of starting the day.
We said our goodbyes to our hostess, Marta, and manager Fernando. On the road to Lucca with our trusted driver, Giovanni. We will really miss him, as it became a great relationship.
We walked to our apartment with our luggage and extra wine from Chianti most of which we will be drinking here. Our place was not ready so we went to lunch. Siamo andati all'Osteria da Rosolo per il pranzo e abbiamo ordinato un'insalata. (We went to Osteria da Rosolo for lunch and ordered a salad.)
We went back to the apartment and settled in. Ho comprato i salumi e i formaggi. (I bought cold cuts and cheese.) Dow studied the washing machine for later use (you are supposed to run appliances at night due to energy costs). She is becoming a pro as an Italian washing machine operator. I can't even run the American machines. Before all the comments – I did the shopping and Dow will wash – division of labor. We met the owner, who is a bubbly lady and una bella donna. This is our third year staying here.
Dow's sister and her husband are in Lucca and we texted but no answer. Domani (tomorrow)
We tried to make dinner reservations but many restaurants were full. We knew if we went back to Osteria da Rosolo early we would get in. We got one of the last tables. Normally we only visit a restaurant once a trip but this place is great with so many choices.
Note – In Chianti, vino della casa è più denaro che in Lucca. (In Chianti, the house wine is more money than in Lucca.)
