Si, back to our regular morning routine of working on the website, walking the wall and then having lunch.

Fa bel tempo. (Weather is good). Forse troppo caldo per questo pomeriggio. (Maybe too hot this afternoon.)

Texted and emailed Dow's sister to meet at noon to go to a good place for lunch. No response from them so we went to lunch at Tattoria Burelli. Many locals eating there which is always a very good sign.

Managed to communicate via text later, so we met Ellen and Charlie and walked, showing them things to do and places to go. Then had a drink at an oudoor cafĂ© in Piazza San Michele. It is the night of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Made plans for how to watch the candlelight procession  (the Luminara di Santa Croce) tonight.  On this occasion the city celebrates the Holy Face, a wooden crucifix kept here in a Cathedral except when taken out for this procession.

Legend tells that it had been sculpted by Nicodemus (who assisted in depositing Christ in his tomb) and was found and carried to the city in 742.  The present Holy face is a 13th century copy.

We watched some of the procession - sorry that it was too dark for good pictures.
