Un'altra bella giornata (Another beautiful day) Worked this morning on the website as it takes time with all the pictures. Siamo andati a piedi al Piazza Grande. (Walked to the piazza grande.) It was packed with people. Che è successo alla nostra città tranquilla? (What happened to our quiet city?) It's an international festival – Festival/filosofia. I have a picture of all the events happening here, at Carpi and at Sassuolo. The towns of Capri and Sassuolo are close by Modena.
Had lunch at Caffè della Musica, in a quiet area where we are staying recommended by our wonderful hostess, Raffaella.
First – we had Erbazzone, a very light crust filled with vegetables. Then Dow had pesciolini e acciughe marinate (marinated fish and anchovies).
I had spaghetti al tonno (spaghetti with tuna) – very good!
Siamo andati a piedi alla città questo pomeriggio. (we walked in the city this afternoon.) Questo è stato giorno di chiesa. (This was church day) – visited Il Dumo, where Pavarotti's funeral was held and Chiesa di S. Agostino.
Came across a presentation of shoes. We were taken back by one picture that said “Non guidicare un uomo se no ha camminato per tre lune nelle sue sue scarpe”. (“Don't judge a man if you haven't walked three moons in his shoes.”) Very moving and with the picture you flash back in your life and reflect on not doing that.
Had some white wine on our little patio and next door they were playing music. What a treat. First Barbara Streisand songs, then jazz and finally classical music. Some music was live and some recorded. We would have paid for the performance. Brava per la musica.
Siamo andati alla Osteria Santa Chiara per la cena.(We went to Osteria Santa Chiara for dinner.) Per il primo piatto Dow ha mangiato tortellini al ragù e ho mangiato pasta con tartufi. (For the first course Dow ate tortellini with ragù and I ate pasta with truffles. For the second course Dow had sliced rare meat and I had a filet with balsamic vinegar. I would not think this combination would work but, it does, so much so that I want to duplicate this at home. Not sure how they made the sauce but, I wish all of you could try this. No dolce! (no dessert!)
