Ciao,

Il tempo è bello oggi (beautiful weather today)

We had some much needed sleep last night. Then ate some fruit for breakfast, worked on the website and headed to the city center for a 2 hour walking tour of the city. It's Italy so it is all about history and Parma is no exception. There are historical statues and museums all over the city. Most of the streets are normal in size with only a couple of narrow ones (such as in Lucca).

The main piazza is named for Giuseppe Garibaldi, who unified Italy in 1861. Parma is known for specializing in three areas – art & music, religion, and culinary. We  plan to tour the Teatro Regio (opera house) later. It  has been noted by Lee Marshall, "while not as well known as o "La Scala" La Scala in Milan or o "La Fenice" La Fenice in Venice, the city's Teatro Regio....is considered by opera buffs to be one of the true homes of the great Italian tradition, and the well-informed audience is famous for giving voice to its approval or disapproval – not just from the gallery.

The saying goes “if you are successful at La Scala in Milan and Teatro Regio in Parma you can be successful anywhere in the world”

Abbiamo avuto il pranzo al ristorante Forchetta. (We had lunch at Forchetta restaurant. Ci piace il cibo. (We liked the food.) We were nearby and got a table outside – lucky because it is one of the top restaurants in Parma.

Walked around in the afternoon and found the super market and bought some fruits, wine, cold cuts and juice. In the evening we went out and had a negroni.
