Non c’ è sole oggi. (No sun today.) Il tempo sta cambiando. (The weather is changing.)
Dormiamo sempre molto bene qui. (We always sleep very well here.)
In Italy breakfast is usually something sweet and coffee. No place to have ham and eggs. We have our juice and I have a piece of cold pizza and diet coke. Worked on the website and then we walked the wall – so great being on the wall. It is about 4 kilometer or 3 miles and takes about an hour. No cars on the wall - people in Lucca love walking their wall. Some use skates, bikes, four wheel pedal cars (tourists), walk their dogs or walk with babies in carriages.
Abbiamo mangiato all’ Osteria Da Rosolo. (We ate lunch at Osteria Da Rosolo.) We have gotten to know one of the waiters, he is so funny. Dow had seafood salad and I had the octopus salad for our first course For our second course Dow had wild boar stew over polenta and I had gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce. Wild boar, rabbit and octopus are three menu items you do not see in the states. The wild boar served is really wild as they hunt them and the rabbit is farm raised. Wild boar tastes like pot roast. You can buy rabbit at the Strip District Meat Market.
Lucca always has different art events and this year it is International Exhibition of Paper Art. "Fear and Desire" is the theme that will be leading all events and all exhibitions of the 10th Edition of Lucca Biennale, nevertheless a concept on which artists, performers, designers and architects will be called to reflect, to talk about art and society, through their art works.
It rained in the afternoon and the forecast is for more rain. We will adjust. Since coming to Lucca for two weeks for 11 years we have never had more than a day of rain in September.
In the evening we stopped at our favorite restaurant in Lucca, Osteria da Pasquale, and made reservations for next week as it is always full. We talked to Pasquale who recognized us. He said we haven't changed much as it been 2 years since we have seen him. He is always a ball of energy. He told us the Osteria was shut down for 8 months. Lucca was a ghost town. He made it through the tough times and he looks great. Siamo felici per lui. (We are happy for him.) Later we had wine on the balcony.
