Ciao dall'Italia. (Hello from Italy)
Un'altra giornata di bel tempo. (Another good weather day.)
We walked to the Garibaldi Piazza - a lot of people out and about. Allora, è sabato. (So, it is Saturday.) We have not heard any English. No Americans in Parma probably because it is not a destination spot. Too bad because they are missing out on a great city. The population of Parma is just under 200,000 and Lucca is about 88,000.
iAbbiamo mangiato il Ristorante Angiol D'or è stato buonissimo. ( We ate at Ristorante Angiol D'or it was very good.) I had found it using trip advisor and our landlord also recommended it. Two pluses equals success. Dow's duck fell off the bone with tenderness and my gnocchi was so light it was lifting off the plate – slight exaggeration on my part.
What is interesting that every restaurant we have seen has tortelli di zucca which is pumpkin ravioli. A great taste that I haven't had before. Going to put that on my “to do list” when making pasta.
Walked around this afternoon and bought tickets for the opera tour tomorrow. We also tried to buy tickets for a cheese and/or meat tour but, all sold out due to the Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto festival in all of September.
Went out for our nightly negroni and were also served little sandwiches and the food was free. Must be happy hour! Different types of bread here and it is served with every meal! But we have found only a few gelato places!
