Italy 2022
As you've seen we've had a couple of non touristy days. Well we're not really tourists this year - more like visitors. We've been coming to Italy every year since 2010 (except 2020) and have stayed in most of the major cities (Rome, Venice, Modena , Parma, Bologna, Sorrento ) and visited the “must see” sites. Also Sicily, the Isle of Capri, Chianti and all the cute little villages. So this year we're enjoying all that Lucca and the area has to offer and living like an Italian in Italy! La dolce vita! But stay tuned – there's more art, scenery, and trips outside Lucca to come!
After a great night's sleep I had my pizza and diet coke and started the web site.
Believe me when I say cold pizza and coke go together like …… you know the phases. We have not had coffee yet but, we will go out one of these days. In Italy breakfast is usually something sweet and coffee. No place to have ham/bacon and eggs.
Un'altra bella giornata ma ha fatto caldo nel pomeriggio (Another beautiful day but it got hot in the afternoon.) Since we have been here there has been only 15 minutes of rain and they need rain. There are olive groves that are burning because of the heat. The world is in deep trouble.
Abbiamo camminato sulle mura poi siamo andati all' Osteria da Rosolo per il pranzo (We walked on the wall then we went to Osteria da Rosolo per lunch.) Dow had seafood salad and then green ravoli. I had tortelli and then wild boar with polenta. Outstanding as usual.
On our afternoon stroll around town we met a very interesting woman. She is a “plein air” painter. He bio is included with the pictures. She worked in Cortona for a while and knew Frances Mayes and her husband Ed. Said they are a wonderful couple who have shared their success with charities and those in need in the area. Things have quieted down now, but it was really crazy in Cortona after Under the Tuscan Sun first came out.
I can only imagine the crowds!
Light snack on the balcony.
