Ci stiamo divertendo molto in Italia. (We are having a lot of fun in Italy.)
Pioggia quindi non siamo usciti nella mattina. (Rain so we didn't go out in the morning.)
This is going to be a lazy day. We need one.
Abbiamo pranzato alla Bottega di Anna e Leo. (We had lunch at La Bottega di Anna and Leo.) The cooking style is country Italian. Dow had marinated vegetables in oil and her second course was fresh maccheroni Lucchesi with ricotta cheese and spinach. I had brushchetta for the first course and then fresh spaghettoni with Norcina sauce. Very good as usual.
The brushchetta did not have any tomatoes and spaghettoni is a little thinner spaghetti. As for Dow's maccheroni it was flat, not tube shaped. Since this place is old style country food it has an historical explanation. One source I read said it was a speciality of Emilia-Romagna – a region that borders the Northern Tuscan area of Garfagnana. We have been to Emilia-Romagna and have spent a week at each of its famous old cities - Modena, Parma and Bologna.
It is estimated that there are approximately 350 different types of pasta - and about four times that many names for them! So I guess that you can find any shape of pasta and find it called by many different names
In the late afternoon we walked around town. Abbiamo comprato una fetta di pizza alla Pizza Felice. (We bought a slice of pizza at Pizza Felice.) Very thin crust and very good. We sat on outside stools which are rarely available. It's very famous and popular – usually a line and people sitting on the few stools or on the curb to eat their slice of pizza.
