Il viaggio a Viareggio è stata divertente. (The visit to Viareggio was fun .) Una giornata molto lunga ma fantastica (A very long day but great.)

Last night no air just a natural breeze with our windows open. Maybe we are turning the corner. Abbiamo lavorato sul sito web questa mattina. (We worked on the web site this morning.) It took longer than expected but still had time to walk the wall before lunch at Cantina Bernardini. Siamo stati al ristorante in passato  (We have been at this restaurant in the past.) Questo ristorante è molto buono.( This restaurant is very good.)

First course Dow had marinated beef carpaccio, scoppolato di Pedona cheese and artichokes in oil and I had Osteria beef tartare "all'Antica". For second course Dow had Tortellini au gratin, Bolognese ragu and besciamella sauce and I had Tordelli di 'nonna Maria' with bolognese ragù. Clean plates answered the question “was it good?” Of course we always have wine with the meal. We always order the house wine but, sometimes they do not have it as the case today so I look for the wine that is made with Sangiovese grapes.

Bought a loaf of buccellato. I cannot stop eating this type of bread – unique to Lucca.

During our late afternoon walk, we  did a comparison of people sitting on a wall outside the book store. 2014 all men watching women compared with 2023 a combination of men and women on their phones. The 2014 photo is from our past photos. Times are changing and the pandemic had an effect as the older population in Italy was hit hard.
