Forgot to tell you that Gisella and her husband (who was born in Pisa and has lived there his entire life) will be giving us a tour of Pisa next week and also of the country side. Their home is in the country.


Il Sole splende! e fa caldo. (The sun shines! and it is hot.) But cooler in the evenings. Left all the windows open last night and we were comfortable. We do have air conditioning if we need it.


Finished unpacking and all the technology is set up โ€“ computer, iPad, watches and iPhones. I even have a leftover converter.


Abbiamo camminato la mura e ci ha fatto caldo. Non abbiamo portato l'acqua con noi. (We walked the wall and we were hot. We didn't take water with us.) Che peccato! (What a shame!) Forse stupido. (Maybe stupid.)


Did some shopping in the afternoon. Mostly groceries but also bought a small blender so Dow can make our fruit smoothies in the AM. In this heat you have to limit your time outside โ€“ be smart.


La cena al Osteria Nova. (Dinner at Osteria Nova.) Proviamo sempre di mangiare fuori . (We always try and eat outside.) La cena รจ stata buonissima. (Dinner was very good.) Osteria Nova has been open only a few years but they try a put a modern twist on Italian cooking and it does work. My gnocchi with mussels was an unusual combination and was successful. The second course was a more traditional pasta with black truffles. Mi piacciono i tartufi. (I like truffles.) Dow had tuna tartare with ponzu sauce. What is ponzu? I had to look it up โ€“ it is a citrus-based sauce commonly used in Japanese cuisine. Her second course was conchiglie pasta, ossobuco and saffron foam. Entrambi sono stati fantastici! (Both were fantastic!)
