Fa ancora caldo ! (It is still hot!)

Last year Dow was exploring around on the internet and made contact with Grace Roberti, who invited us to lunch with her and her husband. At one time she lived in Pittsburgh and started the Lucchese del Mondo chapter there. She has a website LuccaLife.com. It is wonderful - full of information about Lucca. If you explore all the events and information on this site then you will include Lucca in your itinerary. We hopefully are meeting them for lunch next week - wonderful people.

Abbiamo camminato la mura e ci ha fatto caldo. (We walked the wall and we were hot.) We didn't walk the entire wall as we continue to be smart. I cannot imagine what August must have been like as we were viewing the weather from the U.S. and it was consistenly in the 100's.

Siamo andati a Osteria Da Rosolo per il pranzo. (We went to Osteria Da Rosolo for lunch.) Dow had smoked salmon carpaccio alla rosolo for the first course and second course she had maltagliati dell'osteria (fresh pasta with seabass and tomato sauce.) I had beef tartare then trippa alla lucchese (tripe). Osteria Da Rosolo has been very consistent over the years and very good. The head waiter welcomed us with a big hug and seated us at our regular table!

Later in the afternoon we went to an exhibit - 100 Anni Aeronautica Militare. (100 Years of the Air Force.) It was impressive. On the walls there was a  rotating display of planes from the last 100 years. Very interesting. There were displays of plane parts, uniforms, pictures etc. A couple of tables had people playing a competitive game placing different planes on maps and boards. Did not understand what it was but the people were really engaged.  In another area people were seated waiting for a panel of speakers.  Lots of people and lots going on,

Snacks and drinks on balcony.
